Charles is a LLM in International Economic Law student. He graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sussex in 2016. During his undergraduate studies, he had extensive experience in leading student organizations and team management. He was elected as the President for the Law Society of the University of Sussex, in which he was fully responsible to plan and set up annual objectives for the society. Moreover, he was the Founding President of the Hong Kong Public Affairs and Social Service Society at the University of Sussex. Furthermore, he was acted as the Final Year Law Student Representative at the Sussex Law School, in which he acted as a bridge between the university and students.
His ambition for the GLSA is to enhance the experience of graduate law students by exposing them to career options and providing opportunities for them to develop their skills and connections. Besides, promulgate information, advice and contacts regarding academic issues and careers in legal related areas. Aside from his involvement in the aforementioned activities, he enjoys writing and reading. His favorite book is “The Devil’s Advocate” by Iain Morley QC.
Internal Vice President
Max is a first year Juris Doctor student. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Law and Business with Honours from Hong Kong Shue Yan University. Max is always keen to serve the University and the community. During his undergraduate studies, he actively participated in school events, from being a Student Assistant of the International Institute of Conflict Engagement and Resolution (IICER), to participating in the 6th International ADR Mooting Competition in Hong Kong. He was also involved in different charity events.
Max strives to be an all-rounded student, and he feels that it is inspiring to promote humanitarian awareness among the graduate law students as Internal Vice President of the GLSA. Oprah Winfrey, the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award Winner, is considered to be Max's inspirational role model. During his spare time, Max enjoys watching movies, especially drama, romantic comedy and musical. He also likes travelling. His favourite cities are London and Rome.
External Vice President
Paul is a second year Juris Doctor student. He studied music in his high school, studied German as an undergraduate, used to work at Rotary International, American Field Service and currently works at King & Wood Mallesons.
He loves joining extracurricular activities with schoolmates and colleagues, learning new knowledge and skills. His passion in getting on with people from different backgrounds brings him to join the Graduate Law Student Association as External Vice President. Separately, he likes playing musical instruments and singing. He is also a Divemaster under The Professional Association of Diving Instructors.
Katie is a first year Juris Doctor student. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Financial Economics with Honors from the University of Rochester. As an undergraduate, Katie was actively involved in numerous student-run organizations. She was elected as Secretary for the University Badminton Club, in which she coordinated with other E-board members to organize various charity tournaments to support Food link and a local rehab center.
Her enthusiasm in improving the well-being of her fellow classmates drives her to join Executive Board of the GLSA as a Treasurer. Outside work and school, Katie is committed to serving as a K2-K3 school kids Sunday School teacher, as well as regularly visiting and providing support to the mentally disabled primary school students at Po Leung Kuk Y.L.M.F. Memorial School dormitory. During her spare time, Katie enjoys hiking, traveling and trying out different types of cuisines.
Cyndi (Zhang Xinyue) is a first year LLM in International Economic Law student. She holds a Bachelor of Law Degree from Nankai University and a Bachelor of Administration Degree in Business Administration from Tianjin University in China. As an undergraduate, Cyndi actively participated in various social practice and activities. She was the Vice Director of the Internal Affairs Department of the Student Union of her university, in which she coordinated 10 departments in the Student Union and organized several internal events. As a helper of Secretary Department of the CUPSA, she cooperated with other members to organize the CUHK’s Beijing introduction meeting and the dinner in June this year successfully. Now she is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA) of CUHK.
Strong motivation to learn more, experience a different life and helping other students enjoy their academic year drives her to join in the Graduate Law Students Association as Secretary. Out of the love of sports and performing, she won the Ten Top Singer Award of Law School of her college and worded as a referee of the volleyball and badmintons matches in the university’s league. Meanwhile, she is an actress in the Drama Club of her college.
Social & Media Chair ; Full-Time JD Representative
Adrian is a first year Juris Doctor student. Born and raised in Canada, he holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Global Economics with a minor in Philosophy at the University of Western Ontario, and a Master of Science in Fashion, Design, and Luxury Goods Management from the Grenoble Graduate School of Business in France. Prior to joining CUHK, he has had held positions in both the banking, and luxury retail industry, while actively participating in philanthropic activities. He is a Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s award recipient, and has spent two months in Bandipur, Nepal teaching English and Mathematics to underprivileged children. It was through these experiences that he ultimately garnered an appreciation for the importance of law in both daily and commercial life. Adrian hopes to build strong bonds with everyone in the graduate school of CUHK, and hopes to improve the wellbeing of his fellow colleagues as a Full-Time JD Representative in the GLSA. Outside of school, Adrian enjoys spending his spare time watching Gordon Ramsay scream at incompetent chefs, pretending to know what he is doing when he mixes his own cocktails, and drawing.
